Màu Định Cư - The Colours of Resettlement

Màu Định Cư
Trần Thiện Tích
Vượt biên, tù, chết ,vẫn đi,
Đổi mạng sống vì màu đẹp tự do.
Để thoát khỏi màu cờ đỏ, độc tài Cộng Sản
Màu định cư bừng lên ánh sáng
Ngọn đèn đêm.  Màu giàn khoan giữa biển cả mông mênh.
Màu hy vọng, màu biển xanh long lanh một khối.
Sung sướng màu tự do, lung linh ánh lửa hồng.
Vàng  ba sọc đỏ sáng ngời tự do.
Màu đẹp ấy nở bừng trong xứ sở, màu cuộc sống và nơi ở bình an.
Hôm nay màu qúy tạ ơn
Gom muôn sắc thắm, tụ ngàn màu hoa.
Thoáng chốc bốn mươi năm qua,
Nghiêng mình cúi xuống hẳn là thành tâm
Tạ ơn nước Úc ân cần,
Màu cờ xanh mượt, sáu vầng sao ôm.

The Colours of Resettlement

Fleeing one's country could end up in death or jail, but there is no other way
Exchanging one's life for the beautiful colour of freedom,
Escaping the red colours of dictatorial Communism.
The colour of resettlement brightens night lights, the colour of oil derricks in open sea.
The colours of hope and blue sea sparkle and mingle in one.
The colour of foreigners’ kind hearts leading fleeing boats to land in Bidong, Galang, Hongkong or Thailand.
The colour of resting waves, calm sea, and that day of the interview,
The joyful colour of being approved to resettle in a third country.
Oh! How warm the colour is when refugees are welcomed and granted sanctuary.
Happiness is the colour of liberty glittering in fire.
And up, with determination, the refugees rise.
The settlers rebuilding their lives with the colour of their bare hands,
from the light colour of day shift, and the dark colour of night shift.
Or beginning  to learn from the colour of nothing,
with the belief that it would open the road for their children to advance.
The first generation: selfless sacrifice.
The second incessantly, gloriously thrives.
The third stands tall, firm and with pride.
All add more colours... fresh and bright.
The settlers' communities make their own contributions to society.
The Yellow Flag with Three Stripes flutters in liberty.
The warm  colours glow in countries of santuary.
Today, gathering myriad hues of flowers beautiful and appealing,
We offer the heartfelt colour of thanksgiving.
In the blink of an eye forty years have flown by.
We bow down in respect, faithfulness and gratitude
towards Australia's Colours of Blue and Six Embracing Stars with Love imbued.
